The electric vehicle revolution in India is gaining serious momentum, and one of the most anticipated launches this year was the Mahindra BE.06, part of the brand’s Born Electric (BE) lineup. Six months after launch, we finally have in-depth, real-world feedback from a proud owner of the BE.06, giving us a clear picture of what it’s like to live with this futuristic EV.

Is the BE.06 all flash and no substance? Or is it truly a benchmark-setting electric SUV for Indian buyers? Here’s what the owner had to say after clocking over 5,000 kilometers with the BE.06.

🔰 The Buying Experience

The owner, Anuj Sharma from Pune, booked the Mahindra BE.06 within days of its launch in January 2025. He was drawn in by its bold design, tech-loaded features, and Mahindra’s promise of a sustainable yet performance-driven EV.

The delivery process took around 45 days, and he appreciated the regular updates from the dealership. The handover experience was smooth, with a detailed walkthrough of the car’s features and EV-specific usage instructions.

🚙 Design & Road Presence – A Head Turner

One of the biggest highlights of the BE.06 is its striking design. It stands out on the road with its:

  • Sharp LED DRLs and Tail Lights
  • Coupe-like roofline
  • Dual-tone futuristic alloys
  • Distinctive closed grille EV look

Anuj mentioned that strangers often walk up to ask about the car. “It looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. People can’t believe it’s a Mahindra,” he said. It has a true premium SUV feel, especially in its Midnight Blue shade.

Performance & Range – Powerful and Predictable

The BE.06 is powered by Mahindra’s new-gen INGLO platform, offering dual motor AWD configuration with 230 bhp and 350 Nm torque. Here’s how Anuj rated it:

  • Acceleration: 0-100 km/h in around 8.5 seconds
  • Driving Modes: Eco, Fun, and Wild – noticeable changes in throttle and steering response
  • Top Speed: Limited to 160 km/h
  • Claimed Range: 450 km
  • Real-world Range: ~380-400 km with mixed city-highway use

Charging the BE.06 with a fast DC charger (50kW) takes around 50 minutes for 10–80%. On a home AC charger, it takes 6–7 hours overnight.

He was especially impressed with the regen braking system, which helped extend range during urban commutes.

🌆 Comfort and Space – Almost Like a Lounge

The BE.06 scores high in comfort, especially for city rides and highway trips. The owner praised:

  • Cabin Quality: Premium materials, soft-touch surfaces, eco-leather seats
  • Space: Ample legroom and headroom for all passengers
  • Boot Space: 465 liters – enough for long family trips
  • Seat Comfort: Ventilated front seats, supportive cushioning, wide rear bench

The panoramic sunroof adds a sense of openness, and the noise insulation is better than most ICE SUVs in this segment. “You feel cocooned from the outside chaos,” Anuj said.

📱 Technology & Infotainment – Loaded but Needs Updates

The BE.06 is packed with tech, but the owner had a few points of constructive criticism.

Pros:

  • 12.3” dual screen setup (Infotainment + Digital Instrument Cluster)
  • 360-degree camera & blind spot monitoring
  • OTA updates
  • AdrenoX OS-based interface
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • Integrated voice assistant

Cons:

  • Occasional software lag during startup
  • Infotainment system crashed once; resolved after update
  • Mahindra Connect app still has bugs (range estimation not always accurate)

Despite this, Anuj rates the tech experience 8/10 and believes future updates will polish these rough edges.

🛡️ Safety Features – Well-Equipped and Assuring

The BE.06 comes loaded with a comprehensive safety kit, including:

  • 6 Airbags
  • ABS with EBD
  • Electronic Stability Control
  • ADAS Level 2 (Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning)
  • TPMS, ISOFIX, Hill Hold & Descent Control

The ADAS worked well during his highway runs, especially adaptive cruise control, which made long-distance travel comfortable and safe.

🛠️ Service & Maintenance – Cost-Effective So Far

Anuj visited the Mahindra service center once for a general check-up. He reported:

  • No major issues so far
  • First service was free
  • Software updates were done at no cost
  • Minimal maintenance required (no oil/filter changes like ICE vehicles)

He estimates the annual service cost will be under ₹3,000, making it far more economical than traditional SUVs.

Owner’s Pros & Cons Summary

✔️ Pros:

  • Eye-catching, futuristic design
  • Solid build and high safety standards
  • Powerful yet efficient EV performance
  • Comfortable ride quality and spacious cabin
  • Competitive pricing and good warranty (8 years on battery)

❌ Cons:

  • Occasional software bugs
  • App connectivity needs improvement
  • No powered tailgate or ventilated rear seats

Final Verdict: 4.5/5 – Highly Satisfied

Six months in, Anuj calls his BE.06 “a statement vehicle that’s both practical and fun.” He is impressed by Mahindra’s bold shift toward electrification and believes the BE.06 is a worthy rival to even international EVs like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or MG ZS EV.

He recommends the BE.06 for buyers who:

  • Want to shift to electric without range anxiety
  • Value strong design, comfort, and performance
  • Prefer a made-in-India brand with growing EV infrastructure

🏁 Conclusion: BE.06 is a Game Changer for Indian EVs

The Mahindra BE.06 is more than just another electric SUV — it represents the evolution of Indian auto engineering. Backed by strong performance, modern design, and a happy customer base, it’s set to be one of the top choices in India’s growing EV space.

As Anuj summed it up: “I don’t miss petrol. Not even a little.”
