In a world where electric vehicles are rapidly evolving from utilitarian transport to aspirational machines, the Polestar 5 emerges as a bold statement of design, performance, and sustainability. This stunning four-door coupe isn’t just another EV—it’s a grand tourer that dares to challenge the likes of the Porsche Taycan and Lucid Air, while carving out its own identity with Scandinavian minimalism and cutting-edge tech.

⚡ A Manifesto Turned Reality

The Polestar 5 is the production embodiment of the Precept concept, first revealed in 2020 as a “manifesto” of the brand’s future. Five years later, that vision has matured into a sleek, muscular fastback sedan that’s as much about performance as it is about presence. With its low-slung silhouette, taut bodywork, and frameless windows, the 5 exudes a quiet confidence. The absence of a rear window—replaced by a high-definition rearview camera—adds a futuristic touch that’s both functional and visually striking.

🧠 Design That Thinks Ahead

Polestar’s design philosophy is rooted in clean lines and purposeful details. The front fascia features dual blade Pixel LED headlights and a SmartZone sensor array, housing radar and cameras for advanced driver assistance. The rakish windscreen flows seamlessly into a long, sloping roofline that ends in a Kamm-style tail, optimizing aerodynamics with a drag coefficient of just 0.24.

Inside, the cabin is a masterclass in Scandinavian restraint. A 14.5-inch portrait infotainment screen runs Android Automotive OS with Google built-in, flanked by a 9-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9.5-inch head-up display. Sustainable materials like flax-based composites, Econyl carpeting made from recycled fishing nets, and MicroTech upholstery reflect Polestar’s commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.

🏎️ Performance That Thrills

Underneath its elegant skin, the Polestar 5 is a beast. Built on the brand’s new Polestar Performance Architecture—a bonded aluminum platform developed in-house—the car offers two powertrain options. The Dual Motor trim delivers 738 hp and 599 lb-ft of torque, while the Performance variant cranks out a jaw-dropping 872 hp and 749 lb-ft.

Acceleration is equally impressive: 0–100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds for the standard model, and a blistering 3.2 seconds for the Performance trim. Both versions are electronically limited to a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph), in line with Polestar’s safety ethos.

🔋 Range and Charging: No Compromises

Equipped with a 112 kWh lithium-ion battery (106 kWh usable), the Polestar 5 offers a WLTP range of up to 416 miles (670 km) for the Dual Motor version. The Performance model, with its higher output, still manages a respectable 351 miles (565 km).

Charging is equally future-proof. Thanks to its 800-volt architecture, the 5 supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW, allowing a 10–80% charge in just 22 minutes. AC charging tops out at 19 kW, making overnight home charging a breeze.

🛋️ Comfort Meets Craftsmanship

Designed primarily as a four-seater, the Polestar 5 pampers its occupants with Recaro-developed seats that offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Rear passengers enjoy reclining seats, individual climate zones, and a clever “foot garage” that enhances legroom without compromising the coupe-like roofline.

A panoramic glass roof stretches over six feet, flooding the cabin with natural light and enhancing the sense of space. Audiophiles can opt for a 21-speaker Bowers & Wilkins sound system, while a standard 10-speaker setup ensures crisp audio for all.

🌍 A Flagship with a Mission

The Polestar 5 is a litmus test for the brand’s future. With production set in China and pricing starting around £89,500 in the UK, Polestar is betting big on its ability to deliver a luxury EV that’s as sustainable as it is desirable.

CEO Thomas Ingenlath has positioned the 5 not just as a car, but as a symbol of Polestar’s commitment to climate-conscious engineering. From recycled aluminum in its chassis to its zero-emission goals, the Polestar 5 is proof that performance and responsibility can coexist.
