The Japanese brand will introduce multiple SUV models in India in the coming 3-4 years with strong hybrid and all-electric powertrains
Honda Cars India recently launched the third-gen Amaze sedan in the country. It was launched in three grades namely V, VX and ZX in a price range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). However, on the sidelines of the Amaze launch, Takuya Tsumura – President & CEO, of Hof onda Cars India, revealed the company’s future strategy for the Indian market by announcing that three all-new SUV models, including EVs and strong hybrids, will be introduced in the country by FY 2027.
“We plan to introduce three new models, with hybrid and electric powertrains by the 2026-27 fiscal thus expanding the company’s presence in the SUV segment,” Tsumura told PTI. So as you know, Honda presently retails only one SUV in India in the form of the Elevate. Let’s have a look at the 3 upcoming Honda SUVs in India.
1. Honda Elevate EV

Tsumura confirmed the launch of an all-electric SUV based on the Elevate SUV in 2026 in India. It will be the Japanese automaker’s first-ever electric car in the Indian market. It has also been learnt that despite being based on the Elevate, the e-SUV will have a different name and design language. The Elevate-based EV will directly rival Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, MG ZS EV and Tata Curvv EV in the domestic market.
2. New 7-Seater SUV
Reportedly, Honda is also working on a brand spanking new 7-seater flagship SUV for the Indian market. It will be the first SUV model to be based on the PF2 architecture which is the brand’s new global platform and compatible with both ICE & EV powertrains. Slated to launch in 2027, the new 7-seater SUV will be jointly developed by Honda’s Japan and Thailand R&D centres, with assistance from teams in India.

Presently, details are very scarce regarding the SUV but it is believed that Honda will equip it with the Elevate’s naturally-aspirated 1.5L petrol engine. The brand will also introduce a strong-hybrid powertrain option with the full-size SUV. As per the Honda suppliers, the Honda 7-seater SUV production will start around October 2027 at the Tapukara facility in Rajasthan.
3. New Sub 4-m SUV
Honda will also offer a sub-compact SUV based on the PF2 platform in India. The company used to have a presence in the sub 4-m segment with the WR-V between 2017 and 2023. However, it was discontinued last year and since then no replacement has been announced or launched. But things are going to take a turn in 2029 when the all-new Honda subcompact SUV hits the roads.

Since the SUV is more than four years away, the details are very sketchy right now. However, sources have indicated that it will have the same 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine at the helm along with a strong hybrid option. Honda has localised the naturally-aspirated 1.5L engine and hence it would make a lot of sense in the new sub-4-m SUV for our domestic market.
